Reports of my disappearance are greatly exaggerated :)
This cute girl and this sweet chick can both attest to the fact that I am indeed alive and well! We had a fun girls' day out a few weeks ago. Naughty bloggers that we are, no photos were taken as proof. The only proof that I can show is my lovely new Blekinge White slipcover in our spare bedroom!
This is definitely the ultimate bargain at just a little over $43 (IkeaFamily price). Really, one could not even purchase yardage to make a slipcover for that amount.
And yes, that is a new feature wall color. This room is going through yet another transformation, as we continue to tweak our home and make it more suitable for us as empty nesters! (hint: it's sort of becoming a home office for Maurie) The color is Mesquite Tan by Glidden, which I found a sample for at WalMart, but they were able to mix it for me at Home Depot. The remaining walls and ceiling are just painted in Behr's Pure White, straight off the shelf, eggshell finish is my favorite.
A gallery is in the works too, and you can see that I haven't gotten very far! My grandmother's painting, an antelope head on a vintage sconce, and an empty frame. I have plans to hang a chandelier from the corner, and have a boxfull of vintage frames to be painted and filled with art. I'm taking my time with this transformation, rather than running out to get a bunch of new art that I might not care for later.
One thing that I knew I loved immediately was this great bamboo table that we found at a hotel furniture sale! These are so pricey online, and I was thrilled to find this one for only $20. I really intend to gild it, but for fall, I'm liking the dark finish.
These pillows came from my ancient stash of fabrics from back in my handbag-making days. I had picked up a few of the orange pillow slips from Hobby Lobby last year, they are the best bargain around! Just like the Pottery Barn jute-trimmed ones, but only $10, before you use your 40% off coupon :) The colorful rug was a steal at Ross, I think it was around $15. It's fun for fall and holidays, don't you think?!!
And finally, a festive bunch of cotton bolls in a vintage English ironstone pitcher! They were a find in Canton a few months back. They are pretty much the only fall decoration that made it out this year, oh well :)
Thanks so much for coming by, I hope you enjoyed seeing a peek of our bargain room update. We're working on the desk area and I hope to have some photos of that for you soon!

Oh my gosh, that looks amazing! You really did step out in a different direction in that room and I'm proud of you! That color combo is wonderful but with that rug you can add any color you want. You are so skilled at finding beautiful things for a great price.

How do you find Ikea slipcovers. I google them but don't find them. I guess I HAVE to make a trip to Dallas. . . . .

How did you get such a great price for that sofa slip cover? If I could find one like that would be so happy to cover our "new to me" Habitat sofa I got earlier this past summer. Couch just the style I love, is a sofa bed and light color. Need to cover it to protect it from piggy me when I eat on sofa. $43 for a slip cover? wow.
Your room looks so nice, love your feature wall color, it's very striking looking and when you get the gallery on it will be even more so.
How nice to have your Grama's painting. And that English iron stone pitcher, oh me love it.
Very hard to find ironstone here (Grand Junction, CO area) and if I do it's so cost prohibitive I barely dare even wish for it. Even thrift stores here are so high I might as well go to Kmart or Walmart to buy new things. Drats.
Where did you get that great rug? Love the texture and colors in it. Why do you only use it in fall? Looks like it could be used for Spring and summer depending on pillow covers on couch, other accessories in room. It's lovely. I have a thing for rugs but all the ones I love are always way over my budget. (SS).
That bamboo table is gorgeous, the finish on it is nicely done, shiny and pretty. Will look to see what you do with the table after winter.
I'll have to find out if G.J. has a hotel supply store anywhere. So many things have to be gotten in Denver or Salt lake. Not going over Rockies this time of year.
Have great rest of week and enjoy the season

Very pretty, Andrea! It all looks lovely and your gallery wall will look great on that wall. You should take your time - it may seem not quite done for a little while, but I agree that you don't want to run out and fill it up with meaningless things. How are you liking the wall color? I am thinking of going a little darker than the beige we have in our master, but still stay in the neutral family.
