Y'all have heard me talk about moving forever, right? Well, I'm afraid we're not moving any time soon. But I'm on the lookout for a new home all the time! While we haven't actually seen any of these homes in person, I thought the best way to start identifying what I want is by looking at a lot of homes online. It's really interesting to look back and see how my wish list has changed over the last two years.
Here are three homes I have seen recently that piqued my interest, and the inspiration photos I found to help me realize that I'm on the right track!
This is the only photo of this adorable 1910 farmhouse. The listing: Lovely country home on almost 4 acres. 3 miles from town. Large rooms with 10 ft. ceilings. New carpet, linoleum, and paint. Updated kitchen with new countertops. New foundation, new roof, new plumbing throughout. Photos coming.
I will definitely be keeping my eye on this one! Although I have a feeling that the new carpet and linoleum would be coming right out, and the "updated" kitchen would likely see some changes, also. Might make this house not such a bargain after all. As for that amazing front porch, imagine something like this, perfection from the always inspiring LaurieAnna --
Log home, anyone?!! I have coveted Dawn's for years now. This one is a beauty, and on a really pretty piece of property. The listing: Come look at this really cute log home on 13+-Acres, porches, 3 bed 2 bath with a WBFP in living and wood burning stove in kitchen, formal dining or could be a 2nd living. Kitchen has plenty of room for entertaining a large family with a breakfast bar and large breakfast nook. Master suite has a jetted garden tub, sep shower and has a sitting room or a study, barn is 36X36, 4 stalls and tackroom, shop is 40X60. Sounds wonderful!
We don't plan on having horses, but have always talked about raising our own grass fed beef, like Maurie's family did when he was a kid. Plenty of room on this property for livestock, and a huge garden.
And how fast do you think I could get this barn painted red, like this gorgeous inspiration photo?!! Sigh
There's so much potential here to create light, bright living and dining areas.

The kitchen has great potential too --
I can just imagine filling those chairs with family and friends, with an elegant transformation like this!
But my very favorite house, so far, is this next one. The listing: House sits on a hill overlooking the 12 acre property. Spring fed creek surrounds the land. Large rooms and plenty of storage. Home boasts a huge stone fireplace with tons of windows. New roof in 2010.
White would be so much better, don't you think?
With a pretty garden in front of the porch.
And this sad room
Really, really wants to look like this!
With a lovely entryway like this one
There's lots and lots of wood to be painted
See how cute these bedrooms could be? And just think of the money we would save on paneling :)
Dated, scary bathrooms
Are begging for an uplifting redo. Better buy stock in Behr if we ever buy this house :) photo source
Wait -- I haven't even gotten to the best part! The listing, continued: This is truly beautiful land with a 2 acre lake in the back. There is a bridge to cross over to get to the lake.
A LAKE. A private lake! I didn't know that I wanted a lake. Then I searched Pinterest for "lakeside dinners" and life as I know it was changed forever :)
So a girl can dream, right?!! Thanks for coming by today to dream with me :)

Pretty! I've always wanted a house with a wrap around porch or at least a front porch big enough to set up seating!

All very lovely but I do love that log cabin house with that nice front porch.
Nice to have dreams and who knows, someday your dream just may become real.
Wishing you and your family a Very Merry Christmas

Maybe you could move a little closer to the piney woods of east Texas. Lots of neat homes out here for sale!! Lets do Canton soon. I need a Laurie Anna's fix.

oooooo.....I love the white board and batten cottage! I have several Pinterest boards with pins of homes I like. I think I could start from scotch and build a house that would be close to perfect for us, but the process would probably drive me crazy!
It is fun to dream, though.....
