It was a good gardening weekend here! 80 degrees and a little overcast, with a cool breeze. Maurie cleaned up the winter's worth of acorns and mulched in front, and I puttered in our courtyard and worked on some new planting beds in back.
My neighbor put this kitchen cart on the curb, so you know exactly what I did -- ran right over and snatched it up. How nice it will be to have this storage right outside the back door, and a new spot to decorate. I just gathered up some items from around the house and yard to display here. Do you all think I should paint it? Oh, really, we all know that I will paint it :) Maybe I'll leave the top weathered and just paint the base.
We made multiple trips to Home Depot this weekend. Annuals for 50 cents? Yes, and yes! And seed packets are buy one, get one free. I needed to replace a few plants that had been munched. I kept hoping they were being eaten by caterpillars, but no, I found the first giant grasshopper of the year. I swear, the thing was so big that it looked like it had teeth. They can plow through an entire plant, roots and all, in one sitting. He was promptly evicted to the alley.
I can't wait to show you all the new areas we are creating to plant in this year! Thank you for coming by today :)

Well, that was a convenient find, Andrea! : ) I think it looks great and, of course, you will paint it! I'll have to try and get there for the seeds while they are on sale. I also want to check out their roses ~ I saw they had them out a few weeks ago and I want to get a couple to plant in the front of our condo. It sounds like you had the perfect weather for yard work. I always liked an overcast day for working on my beds.

Love your potting bench and that cute little birdhouse in red and white.
My neighbor mentioned the Home Depot deal on annuals, but I didn't get over there. I could have really used a bunch of flowers to plant in my cleaned up garden.

I can't believe the things that people throw away! As a "professional curb shopper" I am always on the look out for cast-offs. This piece is great and so cute the way you decorated it! I found your blog through Feathered Nest Fridays and will be checking out more blogs. I love to garden and we've just finally gotten out of winter temps here, so I'm looking for some inspiration! Hugs, Leena

I wish my neighbors would put such things on the curb! I am inspired to find a gravy boat for seeds, too.
