Now that the eighteen boxes of Christmas decorations are packed away, I have a house full of empty shelves and table tops! I miss the twinkle and the sparkle, but it's nice to have everything feel so clean and fresh.
It seems like almost every year I miss out on the really good Valentine's Day decor. But not this year! I've been hitting the stores like crazy in search of some heart-shaped goodies to display. Most stores don't even have their Valentine's wares out yet, but JoAnn's already had theirs on sale. Go figure.
You all won't be surprised that I started in the kitchen. I was really happy to spy these adorable heart plates at Target the other day. Good thing too, because at $2.99, these will be gone in a flash. They had some really cute things, and I had to use restraint to keep from snapping it all up. I have a lot of red tchotchkes already, so I plan to use all of those to help create my Valentine's Day displays.
But one of my main objectives was to find discounted Christmas decorations to use for the Valentine's holiday. Abby and I cleaned up at the WalMart 75% off sale. Can I just say Valentine's tree this year?!! I have wanted to do one every year. So yes, there's still a little twinkle and sparkle here :) It's almost put together, so I'll show it off soon!

I'm in love with the red polka dotted bowls!! Too Cute!! You are WAY ahead of me! Christmas is down and put away, but the buck stopped right there :^(
Gotta' get busy with the cleaning equipment, and then I will be back on track!
Blessings to you in this nice new year!

Lovely Valentine's shelves, Andrea! I am loving your white milk glass salt and pepper shakers--too cute. I am going to poke around the thrift stores, perhaps tomorrow (!), and see what they might have for Valentine's Day.

I love Valentine's Day decorations, but I'm not quite ready yet to start decorating for that holiday. I feel like I just put all my Christmas stuff away and have barely taken a breath! Target always has the cutest stuff for V-day. Do you have a Hobby Lobby near you? They have all their decor out already.

You are way ahead of me! I'm only just thinking of taking down Christmas! Love seeing the red hearts with the greenery in the milk glass vase - great colour combo and very striking with the other items you've used. The heart shaped plates are so pretty too! Glad I stopped by!

Adorable, it all looks so festive, I use red for the Winter months too, mostly burgundy red with some other shades of red thrown in too. Nice Job! and very nicely accessorized.

These all look great!! My Joanne's has their Easter stuff out all ready!! I like how everything is fresh and clean after taking down the Christmas decor so I'm giving it a little more time before I pull out my Valentine items.

Wow pretty Valetine's displays! My wife decorates for every holiday also. However we do take the month of Januay off. After all of the Christmas decorations are put away, that came out the day after Thanksgiving and stay up til January 01, I need a little break.... So we put up calming soft colored items for just one month, then on January 31st, out comes VALENTINES DAY !!! Your home looks beautiful, this is my first time at your blog I will be back!

I am a new follower and love your blog! You are very talented and I love that your house is "normal" (aka not a big mcmansion) like so many other bloggers. I love your Valentines Day decor. I also bought some of those plates but not the heart-shaped ones, just the regular striped ones. I added them to my hutch decor and found some cute felt banners in Target's dollar bin. Check out my blog sometime. I occasionally post decorations but mostly family stuff. Thanks for the inspiration!
