We're in for a couple of rainy, cold, dreary days. Perfect for cleaning out closets, sitting by the fire, and drinking hot tea. Not so perfect for any kind of photography. But some days, you've got to work with what you've got :)
My day did get a little brighter when my sweetie brought these flowers home. Our Whole Foods has the best floral department.
This tea is my really simplified version of the real thing. It is inexpensive to make and healthful. The cinnamon is believed to contain a wealth of health-promoting properties, from lowering cholesterol to boosting cognitive function. Ginger, found on the list of the World's Healthiest Foods, is said to lessen arthritis pain and protect against cancers.
Place three cups of water in a saucepan. Add 4 tea bags (just regular black tea), three 1/4 inch slices of freshly peeled ginger, and a couple of generous dashes of cinnamon. Bring to a simmer, then turn off, cover, and allow to steep for 10 minutes. Add your choice of sweetener (we like stevia drops) and half and half to taste.
I hope this brightens your day!

Your flowers are lovely-I really wish we had a Whole Foods here in our area. I do just plain ginger in boiling water sometimes with Truvia for sweetner. Your tea sounds good- xo Diana

Your vignette is so warm and cozy and I love Chai lattes. I usually use tea bags, but now I'm going to try your recipe. It sounds lovely.

Your tea recipe sounds so divine. I have never used fresh ginger...is it just available at a grocery store in the spice section? I saw your post over at the StoneGable blog party.

Ginger is great! We have a hunk of it every morning in our smoothies. Those flowers are so cheerful. I'm sure they brightened your day.

It's dreary and rainy here, too. Tea is a wonderful, soothing drink on days like today, isn't it? I like all kinds.
How nice of your sweetie to bring home cheerful flowers!

Luv your spin on Chai ( means tea by the way) Traditionally in my family, my Uncle makes the Chai, breaks with the entire Punjabi tradition really as kitchen work is mainly a woman thing. But I guess fast forward to the modern day :-)...
Traditionally it is made with milk or cream in a saucepan with the tea leaves, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom.... But you have to stand there at stir and watch for the milk not to boil over. Can't tell you how many times I have had to clean up a mess on my stove. Thsi way... no milk boilover.
Thansk for sharing.
Cheers, Gee

Fragrant smoking swirled around people today dressed in Ravens violet (with a bit of Oriole orange flashing every now and again). Cars completing by quit to listen seeing that music rocked from speakers. It looks like a giant tail gate party and that is certainly what it was, even if the Ravens received already beaten the Cleveland Browns 2316 Thursday evening..
