How I wish we had started on this months ago! But I finished all the cabinets on the sink side of the kitchen, and do they ever look better. I rushed before the sun came blazing in this morning to get a few shots. It's all or nothing in this kitchen -- a little dark, or full-on, hello, it's morning sunshine. Which is a little more eye-opening now with my new blazing white cabinets!
This time, instead of agonizing over which color of white to choose, I simply grabbed Behr Pure White semi-gloss and used it straight from the can. I actually prefer a super-white color anyway, and this one doesn't disappoint. For the lower cabinets, I had them mix up Behr satin enamel in black. Both paints have built-in primer, and covered really well.
I worried that I wouldn't feel the same love for my chippy, weathered cabinet doors once the base of the cabinet was freshly painted. But no, I adore them as much as ever.
So many of you are starting your Christmas decorating already, but I am holding out until the day after Thanksgiving. It's starting to feel like I'm the only one, though :)
This year's Thanksgiving will be a more simple, casual and laid-back holiday for us. Tomorrow I'll show you an easy tablescape that I put together in preparation for next week. Canyou believe that it's almost here?

Your kitchen looks fantastic! I love pure white paint too. Nothing looks cleaner and fresher than that to me. Love the chicken wire too. :)
You aren't the only one not decorating for Christmas. I have no desire to do that yet. Don't even want to look at it! Need to soak up more of this cool weather we've had yesterday and today to make it feel real. :)

Your cabinets look great and I love your kitchen. Well, you're not alone. I've not done any Christmasing yet either and will wait until after Thanksgiving. Maybe! :)

Beautiful...I love white cabinets. Wish I had the know-how and bravery to do mine! I'm another that has not started decorating for Christmas. I think it's WAY too early. I like to celebrate one holiday at a time. Thanksgiving first, please.

It looks wonderful. So fresh and sweet. I love pure white cabinets, too. I don't do Christmas until after Thanksgiving either. However, this year we did Thanksgiving this week because all the kids were home! xo Diana

Love it, Andrea, but then I love your whole kitchen! You are not alone ~ I always wait until the day after Thanksgiving. The only thing I may do early this year is bring the bins down from the attic on Wednesday, so I'm ready to go first thing Friday morning.

I love it! Love the chickenwire in the cabinets. I have one above my stove that's small but seeing yours makes me want to tackle large doors.
I had to laugh about the white paint. I just went and got 4 samples of white for my kitchen. There are so many whites!

You aren't alone, Andrea, about decorating for Christmas. I'm taking a decidedly different approach to that this year. And I'm waiting longer. I LOVE your kitchen and those cabinets. I need you here to paint for me where the wheelchair scuffed up the lower cabinets.

I am a hold-out for after Thanksgiving too. The rustic doors look great against the simplicity of the pure white.

LOVE your cabinets and the distressed doors! I'm one of those who wait until after Thanksgiving to start decorating for Christmas.

I clicked the links at the bottom of your
post and found the story of your chippy doors. 15 years-I love that. They are perfect with the fresh coat of paint. I don't always wait until after Thanksgiving, but this year I am taking my time. :)
