Or, how I ended up painting my kitchen.
You know the window seats we started working on? Well, we borrowed our neighbor's miter saw to cut the trim. It seemed the perfect time to cut some other trim that we had been wanting to install in the kitchen for, say, two years.
The saw worked great! The trim looked awesome! We painted it white, and held it up to make sure it looked the way we wanted.
And oh my, was it ever white. Really white. Much whiter than anything else in the room. You can see where this is going, right?
I have created a monster. You know -- the painting monster. I didn't mean to do it. But now that you have painted this, you should go over there and paint that. Oh and look, there's another thing, and then the one right next to it . . . . .
There's no denying that our whole house needs a fresh coat of paint, inside and out. The only room that has been done recently is the dining room, and even it could use a touch-up. Lots of folks hanging out in little house = smudged and dinged walls.
We'll be at this for a while. But I couldn't wait to show off my new thrifted milk glass from last week, plus I needed a little instant gratification to bolster my resolve to keep going.
I don't know what these purple flowers are, but don't they look great with my faux spider mums?
After years of waffling on what counter tops to put in, we decided to just build a wood counter. I can't tell you how much I love it! These will both get sanded and stained as soon as we buy a sander.
You can see just a peek of the lower black painted cabinets in the photo above. We're on a hunt for some more vintage-style glass knobs and pulls, to match the other side of the kitchen. I had bought some a while back, but robbed them from the kitchen to put on a piece of furniture I was selling. Isn't that how it always goes?!

Gorgeous! There's nothing better to me than a fresh coat of white paint. I've made the same mistake before by the way. Don't even touch your baseboards because they are all connected!
I love your milk glass. I'm on the hunt for a milk glass lamp for my desk right now. :)

Now you can come do mine. I have to do my black cabinets. They are so beat up, but I keep procrastinating. I need to start.

Your kitchen is looking so nice. I love all your open shelving and I adore the countertops. I wish I could talk my hubby into going that route. I figure if we only use it for a couple of years it would be so worth it.

The kitchen looks great, and I love the milkglass with the pretty bright flowers and accents around them. I think your mystery flower might be celosia.

I just love what you are doing to your kitchen. We are planning on redoing ours next year. We have knotty pine so you can imagine what I will do.

I would like to paint my kitchen island but I am afraid the paint monster will appear. Your kitchen is lovely and I really enjoyed your post.

How nice to think of you hard at work painting while I relax with my morning coffee doing nothing, ha ha :)

It all looks so fresh and clean! Love the white with the wood countertops. I'm painting my kitchen white - who knew there were 300 billion whites out there!!

Oh my! I'm loving everything you've done so far. I love a white country kitchen and yours is just that. I've got to go check out some posts that I've missed of your remodeling too. you are so right about the domino effect. Last year, I painted one room and then it just kept on going until the entire lower level was repainted. Never fails!
