Lots of sewing, creating, fluffing, and tweaking going on here! Then there will be a mad dash to get it all cleaned up and stashed away before our guests arrive this weekend.
The fabric-draped buffet table in our dining room got a fall spruce up this weekend. This table serves two purposes, as underneath the draping is where I store all of my sewing supplies. I need to remember to show you all how we built this, because it's perfect for small homes, or any home that could use some extra storage space.
In the center I used a rustic basket to hold some golden faux flowers, fall leaves, and gilded pine cones. Super simple. Some spiky grasses are tied with jute twine and anchored in these wonderful urns from Hobby Lobby. If you're looking for some pretty urns, these can't be beat, for $15 each on sale.
This pine cone wreath is tied with some burlap ribbon. And see that window? It's been in our storage forever, and every time I saw it, I wanted to bring it in. So I did! The gold mirror always seemed a little bit too formal to me, so I like the rustic feeling the window brought in. I'll probably do some kind of paint treatment to it in the future.
Oh and there I am! And if you look closely, you'll see where I do my sewing. Yep, that 's my sewing machine on the dining table!
What do you think of my new lampshades? They look like Pottery Barn, right? But no, I found them at the thrift! You better believe that I grabbed those up fast, before anyone else saw them! They don't really fit the lamps. But those are changing soon, too :)
I have looked and looked for art that I liked for this room, and nothing has really been right for these gilded vintage frames. Probably because I found some really expensive vintage botanical prints, and nothing else has compared to those. I mean REALLY expensive (thousands). So until I win the lottery, I glued some vintage sheet music to foam core, then hung a Bordallo cabbage plate in the center. It's really more my style anyway!
Back to work for me! Thanks for stopping by to see my new fall display. I'm joining:

Andrea, Love your buffet....your house always looks so welcoming!
Quick question about the urns - you said you bought them at HobLob. I was there last week but didn't notice them. What section of the store did you find them in? I love them and would love to get some for my fireplace. I wonder if they stock the stores differently in different parts of the country. Hope not!
Blessings to you,
Barbara in St. Louis

That cabbage plate is a favorite of mine, very organic and goes well with your window frame, nuts on pine cones. Great lamp shade shopping too.
