Is there anything prettier than a simple bowl of fruit? Well no, even when it's faux fruit!
I had to grab something to fill the bowl of this wonderful new compote that I found. One of my favorite things is tole, of any kind. This vintage gilded compote is probably from the 1950s. It even has a little metal tag that says Italy.
And you all know that I have soft spot for anything that's a little chippy, peely, and worn. This piece was obviously well loved in its former life. I love the sweet roses that double as candleholders.
I did some digging around on the internet and sadly, couldn't really find much information about this. But it doesn't matter, because all I know is that I really love it! I did find a few vintage gilt tole pieces on eBay and Etsy, but they were a bit pricey. Mine wasn't, because of course I found it at the thrift!
You'll be seeing this on our holiday tables this year, along with some other new finds that I'll share soon! I'm joining:
Claudia's A Favorite Thing Saturday at Mockingbird Hill Cottage
Elaine's Sunny Simple Sunday at Sunny Simple Life
Seasonal Sunday at The Tablescaper
Enjoy!
Hi Andrea!
Oh, I love tole, too. That is a beautiful piece, made all the more so by its wonderful chippiosity (I made up a new word.) You really found a treasure.
Thank you so much for joining in today!

Neat piece. I've got a candle snuffer of a similar style but I've never seen such a compote.
