You know how it goes: if you paint one single thing, everything else around it will need to be painted, too.
After Maurie painted the house trim this weekend, the outdoor furniture looked so shabby, and not the good kind. I couldn't stand it, and spent yesterday giving most of our front yard and porch pieces a fresh coat of white paint. It was awful out -- 95 and really humid. But I was soooo glad when I walked outside early this morning and saw fresh, clean furniture!
I rewarded myself by making a new pillow for our vintage bench and doing a corner vignette.
These pieces won't be staying here, but the other side of the porch is still piled with painting supplies, until we get completely done with the front house trim. I'm looking forward to arranging our porch differently this fall.
I used the same technique as the burlap initial pillows to make this.
Given this week's unseasonal heat, I guess it was wise to choose kalanchoes rather than mums for the front porch.
Many of you asked yesterday about what was nibbling our pumpkins. Here's the culprit: Marvin!
Our spoiled squirrels are so tame that they come up and tap on the kitchen window when they want to be fed. This one follows me around the yard and eats right out of my hand.
I better go grab my little pumpkins before they get munched. Thanks for coming by to see my front porch vignette!

You have pet squirrels following you around? That is too funny. We have squirrels eating our cornice boards on our house and my husband is fed up with them. They have all these trees behind us and choose our house. Love that pillow you made.

Your white bench is so pretty. I am toying with moving my bench to the front porch this week to replace my traditional rockers. I just think a bench says Fall more than rockers. Good luck with the squirrels. I have to deal with my chipmunk friends around here.

It looks great! I love the pillow! My grandma had a little squirrel friend for a while - he would even follow her into the house. He turned mean though when he didn't get enough food and pretty much destroyed everything on her porch! Beware of the cute squirrels!! :)

Great Fall porch. Love the pillow and that Marvin should be ashamed of himself, nibbling the pumpkins. Marvin looks like he's living the good life. :)

It looks SO pretty! I house sit for a sweet couple that have me cut two apples every night for squirrels that live in a squirrel house in a big tree. They're eaten completely. Apparently, summer is the worst season for squirrels.

I love your front porch vignette...so pretty!! When I was little...I used to feed a white squirrel at my grandma's house. He would eat ride out of our hands and he would come right up to the back door to let us know when he was hungry.

Gorgeous! I absolutely love the pillow and that plaid throw. And, I love your story about the squirrel! I had better watch all the little pumpkins I put out this year, although the animals I am having a real problem with are chipmunks. I wonder if they like pumpkins, too?

Marvin the squirrel--gotta love it. Your pillow is just fantastic, and the fresh white paint really complements the wall color of your home--so pretty! Really hot in your area--not nearly so much here, but pretty sunny days. Hope it cools down to more pleasant temperatures for you soon!

Great pillow idea and the whole seating area is so pretty!
We have squirrels but they aren't pets- that would be fun in a way but I don't want to encourage them to stay and eat all my flowers and veggies!
