The pumpkins have arrived with a vengeance in Dallas. Sure wish the fall weather would have come along with them.
I wanted a little more floof for our pumpkins this year. Is that a word?
Two full packs of corn husks were leftover from the wreath project, so I decided to make a "wreath" of sorts, around our pumpkins. I started with a piece of poster board cut just a little larger than the opening of the urns. I then hot glued on layers of corn husks to add fullness. It worked a little better once I realized that tearing the huge husks in half, and gluing them on in batches, was the way to go. I did several batches at a time, gluing between each layer. They were held down with a heavy glass until the glue cooled and dried.
The corn husks were just laid on the urn, then topped with the pumpkin.
After the pumpkin settled, it made, you know, floof. I added some dollar store leaf garland for color.
Lots of other home improvement is going on here. Or maybe damage control is more accurate. Maurie put a fresh coat of white paint on our house trim this weekend, and wow what a difference! Did you know that the Habitat ReStore sells 5 gallon buckets of exterior semi-gloss for just $50? And the purchase supports a great cause. Next up is that nasty crack in our poor 87-year-0ld steps that have settled due to our drought. We bought plenty of caulk at the ReStore too, it was buy one get one free.
By the way, my pumpkins made it a full 24 hours before the snacking began. That might be a record.

I don't know if floof is a word or not, but your arrangement is adorable! The squirrels snack on my pumpkins too despite Bentley trying to chase them away.

What in the world would snack on your pumpkins?
That is never happened to me.
Your house is so cute.

You floof excellently. The pumpkins in urns are delightful. We also deal with the dreaded snackers. Visiting from Brenda's, Olive

First off I LOVE THE PUMPKIN on the pot. My daughter has a squirrel eat her pumpkins last year. I've heard of you put a silicone gel packet like comes in pocketbooks or shoes it will keep them away. Give it a try. Hmmm but as I remember you didn't carve it yet. Maybe tape it to the side or something.
