Hello friends, I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! Just for fun today, and for Outdoor Wednesday, I have some adorable photos to share of the new “house” in the neighborhood. This is our local elementary school’s new chicken coop! Isn’t it the cutest thing ever?
This sweet coop was built by a neighborhood dad, an architect who is now building chicken coops along with people houses. Every detail is so charming, and the hens seem comfy-cozy in their new digs.
Alas, the girls would not come out and show themselves off for us this day. It was hot, and their run is in the full sun in early morning. The coop and run are both locked up securely when the teachers aren't there to supervise.
I have been meaning to get back up there again with my camera, but we have had day upon day of rain, compliments of Hurricane Alex. Looks like a few more days of rain this week, too, although we’re not complaining, after the dry spring we had!
Poultry fever has spread like wildfire, and now the science teacher is almost finished with his custom coop, also. Local chatter is centered around the coop frenzy that’s taken hold of East Dallas. I’m afraid that we may have been bitten by the chicken bug here at our house, too. Remember the playhouse, turned potting shed, in our back yard?
So, what do you think? I think I feel another project coming on!
I hope you enjoyed seeing a few photos of this darling coop. There are more to come, when I can get back over on a nice, sunny day. Please stop by and see Susan at A Southern Daydreamer for Outdoor Wednesday!
That's one stylish chicken coop! How fun for everyone. What a great project.

We have a farm within walking distance so I am passing on that project! :)
So will you give up that cute little potting shed? I love the sofa!

What a nice chicken coop. Those chickens have a designer home. I love your shed. It is so cute just the way it is.

Cute, rustic chicken coup, but I say don't loose your potting shed, but build a new. I love your little space. Have fun!

This is so adorable, and I guess chicken coops are hot, seems like I am seeing them everywhere.
But I do hate to see you give up that sweet little potting shed, such a great place to sit and while away the hours.

While I love chickens and their coops, I think that you should keep that sweet little cottage and build another one for the chicks!! If you have the room, that's what I would do.
Love,
Susan and Bentley

I think the guy who built that is going to be mighty busy. Seems that chicken fever has embraced the whole nation. Wish I could have one. I can just imagine what the garden home neighbors would say to that!

That coop is so cute! LOve it! I've often thought of getting chickens but I'm not sure I want the responsibility. Being responsible for a dog is a big enough job without taking care of a bunch of chickens. But then I think about the organic fresh eggs!

Andrea, I am so glad to see chicken fever grab some of our blogging gals! Arn't these chicken coops adorable! And to think of getting fresh eggs! They cook up so much better than their store counterpart!
You have a darling playgouse/potting shed/now chicken coop.
The only thing I want to know is how much work are chickens?
I am also your newest follower!
Wonderful blog!

Andrea, I don't see a "follow button" so I'll put you on my blog roll. That way I can keep up with all the great posts from the cottage!

You may also want to ask about their system's ease-of-use, reliability and even costs.
