For this week’s Tabletop Tuesday, I finally updated our mantel for summer!
You may remember the shell flower pots from a few weeks ago. The tutorial is here, and shows a few of the steps I took while creating my shell design. This is still one of my favorite easy and inexpensive projects this year. The shells are so summery, and remind me of those beautiful, expensive shell mirrors that we have all admired.
We just received Abby’s head shot from this year’s performing group, and I temporarily propped it up along with last year’s photo. I will eventually have them matted and framed, but for now we’re enjoying comparing them, and seeing how she’s grown in the past year! Last year’s photo is in an ornate vintage frame acquired at our school’s yard sale. I have two smaller frames that coordinate with it, and later I hope to use them for some of my own photography.
The red candlesticks were painted with Rust Oleum Heritage Red, my fave color at the moment. They are paired with mercury glass candlesticks from Martha Stewart, at Macy’s last year.
Two bargain mercury glass votives came from Big Lots. We light our vintage punch cup candles all the time, and love the sparkle they add.
This look was so easy to accomplish, and really gave our mantel a fresh look for summer. For more tabletop ideas, visit Marty at A Stroll Thru Life for Tabletop Tuesday!

Everything looks so pretty! I love Abby's headshots. She has changed and matured. Is she planning to pursue the arts in college?

Your mantel is just gorgeous and I love the mirror too. The shell pots are stunning, what a fabulous idea. The pictures of your daughter are beautiful, such a pretty girl. I really like the mix of the candlesticks, it gives such character to the vignette. Beautiful. Thanks so much for joining the party. Hugs, Marty

That is also my favorite shade of red, Andrea. I LOVE that seashell pot! I'm going to have to try that one. Yesterday I hot glued seashells to a mirror. And now have started dragging all my "nautical" decor out of the garage. A new summery look!
