For Mother’s Day we had a very special tea party here, oh yes we did! The full reveal won’t be seen for a while, but I couldn’t resist showing you all a sneak peek, while I join Laurie for Favorite Things Saturday.
One of my very favorite things is my collection of green majolica-like pottery and dishes. Quite a few of my pieces are made by Bordallo, but many are from other sources, also. They are so versatile, and I use them for almost every occasion.
This pretty tea pot is new to me, acquired at our school’s yard sale. It was originally from Pier One. The bunny tea cup is made by Bordallo, and the vase was from Target quite a while ago. (You can see how I have combined my green pottery with other items here and here.)
Have you ever seen lime green roses? My sweet daughter gave these to me for Mother’s Day. The color is “Jade.” They’re actually a cross between pale yellow and a really pale lime green.
These poppy plates were my Mother’s Day gift! We enjoyed some delicious lemon squares from this recipe, and the most wonderful double chocolate brownies made from this recipe. Seriously, if you have never made homemade brownies from scratch, this is the one to try. You’ll never be able to eat brownies from a box mix again, they’re that good – and easy to make.
Another favorite thing of mine is chai tea. We decided to make our own this time, and it was delicious! I thought I would share the recipe with you all. Although not completely authentic, it’s simple to make, and a good enough facsimile of the real thing for me. Plus, it’s likely that you will have all of the ingredients on hand already.
Andrea’s Homemade Chai Tea
3 cups water
4 tea bags (I just used regular Lipton)
2 T sugar
2 inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
Couple dashes of cinnamon
½ t real vanilla
½ cup half-n-half
Bring water to a boil, and add tea, sugar, ginger, cinnamon and vanilla. Simmer for 10 minutes. Strain and add half-n-half. Taste and adjust sweetness to your liking. Serve hot, or over ice. Makes 4 six ounce servings.
I hope you enjoyed seeing a quick glimpse of one of my favorite things. Plenty more can be seen and Bargain Hunting with Laurie for Favorite Things Saturday!
xoxo, Andrea
p.s. And please come back on June 26th, during the Mad Tea Party at A Fanciful Twist, where I will show you our entire delicious event!

What a pretty table setting. Love the majolica tea pot and cup. Thanks for sharing those recipes. If it wasn't late I would make those brownies.

Beautiful, beautiful photos. That tea pot is one of the prettiest I've seen-such a pretty shape and color. The crocheted table cover is wonderful, and I've never seen that color of rose - gorgeous! This is such a serene setting you've arranged. I'm so glad you linked it to Favorite Things. laurie

Mmmmm. I love chai tea! Your coffee pot and cup and saucer are right up my ally! I love Bordallo Pinheiro pottery. I also have the same plates that your delicious looking lemon square and brownie dessert is featured! Your lime roses are gorgeous!

I absolutely love this post! You have included everything I love; chai tea, the colour green, roses and a beautiful teapot! I have never seen roses that colour before either-they are so pretty.
Best wishes,
Natasha.

You make me feel so welcome with your cozy photos! One of these days I'm going to visit you for real and sit in those chairs with you. And maybe I'll just try some of your tea. I'm a coffee drinker, but would love to be converted!

You created a beautiful outdoor setting! I'm building my majolica collection as well...love it! That vase is gorgeous and of course, I love the pot and cup. No, I don't think I've ever seen green roses, but they are gorgeous as well!
