For this week’s Tablescape Thursday, we’re eating outside in the garden! Abby’s been busy every night, so Maurie and I have had a chance to cook a few dinners that she doesn’t really care for (anything with fish!) and have a relaxing dinner for two in the middle of a hectic week.
This was a “shop the house” table, as I don’t have anything new to show. You have all seen these items around Opulent Cottage before, but I have remixed them in a way that’s new to us all.
Mr. Rooster has found a new home tonight, because I don’t think he has ever been outside, although he has graced every table top inside. I love how the black and white base complements the checked salad plates.
Nothing was blooming on our property today that coordinated with my table, so I loaded this secondhand plate rack with all of the pretty produce I had just purchased at the grocery store. The colors really add to the cheer of the setting, don’t you think? Vegetables and fruit are really just so beautiful, as much so as flowers.
These salad plates are the same ones from Target (seen here before), by Isaac Mizrahi, that my family gave me as a gift several years ago. I always regretted not picking up a few more, and lo and behold, a couple popped up at my local thrift store last week! They’re sitting atop the colorful striped plates from last week’s tablescape. The little yellow bowls will hold extra sauce for our fish.
Two mismatched vintage napkins are on the table, purchased in Canton for mere pennies. I hope someday to have a large collection of these lovely vintage napkins, to mix and match together for larger table settings. I adore the crochet, as I know how long this must have taken to do!
The blue wine glasses are back in stock at my Dollar Tree, so for those of you who wanted some, you might go check again. I used some more of the candles from last week, and also a red candle from our potting shed. It’s really windy though, and I might have a hard time keeping these lit!
We’re having a super-healthy meal tonight, some poached fish with a delicious pesto sauce that I’ll share with you tomorrow for Foodie Friday, and a yummy baked squash casserole that I’ll share soon, also.

Oh, those black and white checked plates are perfect with this tablescape! I also love the fresh veggies arranged on the plate stand, and I think I will copy that idea very soon! Such an inviting table!

The black and white plates are so cute and how fortunate that you could buy more at a thrift store. Roosters are in fashion tonight at TT! Love your tablecloth too! Joni

I love those black and white plates and I love that you used what you already had. That's what is fun about the different tablescapes, we can see how using what we have we can put things together in different ways for different looks.
Hugs,
Joanne

I love those checked plates...I did black and white this week too. Your rooster is perfect with them. I do think fruits and veggies can be as pretty as flowers sometimes. This is a wonderful tablescape.
