For Foodie Friday this week, I thought I would show you my kicked up version of an Easter classic. These spicy deviled eggs are always a crowd pleaser here at Opulent Cottage. The amounts listed below will give you a mildly spicy egg. Increase the spicy ingredients for a little more kick! Add some chopped jalapeno to the yolk mixture to really heat things up. In a pinch, you can even use pepperoncini.
8 hard boiled eggs
4 T mayonnaise
2 T olive oil
1 t brown mustard
1 t horseradish
1 t juice from bottled jalapenos
2 T finely chopped fresh cilantro
½ t ground cumin
Several dashes of cayenne
Salt and pepper
Paprika
Cilantro leaves
Slivers of jalapeno
Peel eggs, slice in half lengthwise. Scoop out yolks. Mash yolks along with next 8 ingredients. Taste and adjust seasonings. Fill egg whites with mixture, and garnish with a sprinkle of paprika (or cayenne), cilantro leaves and jalapeno slivers. Serve on your most adorable egg plate!
Bunny egg plate, Bordallo.
Foodie Friday can be found here, at Designs by Gollum. Enjoy!
These sound so good!! I am sure they have a little "kick" to them! I am adding these to my Easter Menu, thanks for sharing this recipe.

I love your egg plate, and your deviled egg recipe sounds terrific. I will certainly give it a try. I would love for you to join me for Crock Pot Wednesday next week. I took a little break this week to spend some time with Hubby at the beach, but CPW will be back up and ready for you next week.

Beautiful egg plate! And wow, these are some serious eggs! I have to say, I'm really digging the horseradish addition - normally I just use spicy mustard, but horseradish would add a whole new dimension. Thanks for the idea!

Oooh, I love the kicked up version of your eggs! And that bunny plate is so cute. I have them in yellow (first I had seen) from Home Goods. Aren't they fun??? :-)
I wish I had one of your eggs right now. I'm starved!
XO,
Sheila :-)
