It’s almost Easter – can you believe it? The beginning of 2010 has just flown by for us here at Opulent Cottage. We spent a lovely weekend out in our garden, despite some pretty fierce winds, and it’s really starting to seem like spring!
Because of all of the work we’re doing outside, our Easter decorations are pretty simple this year. Today I’m showing our living room mantel, and joining in Table Top Tuesday with Marty at A Stroll Thru Life.
In the spirit of keeping things simple, I’ve left of few of the items that usually reside on our mantel, the red candlesticks and Old Britain Castles platter. It’s a bit more Easter-ish with the addition of some ceramic rabbits and everyone’s favorite, bunnies on a stick. I got these at Pier One last year, but read somewhere recently that they have them again this year, also.
Our local dollar store often has these lush kalanchoes for just $2. For a colorful and easy spring project, I painted and decoupaged these clay pots. Here’s how:
First, I just dabbed on some ivory craft paint
Then sort of dry-brushed them to create a weathered, aged effect
Last, I Mod-Podged some floral wallpaper scraps on the fronts.
They really perked up and spring-i-fied our mantel, for just a few dollars. And it was fun!
Please visit Marty here for Table Top Tuesday. Enjoy!
Love your planter and that display is adorable.. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.
