Wow, our house is still really in transition, just a mess, really. But I had to rally for the very first Tabletop Tuesday, hosted by Barb at Grits and Glamour. You all know I’m always up for a blog gathering!
With piles heaping everywhere in this tiny cottage, I had to search for a tabletop that was untainted. I found one, in the entryway! It’s little too, just 5 x 6 feet, but we’re lucky to have one at all, as most homes in this neighborhood don’t.
This little chest was in my room as a child! I have plans to redo it, but for now it still dons its red, distressed paint and some porcelain knobs, done sometime in the 1990s. It’s really so nice to have drawers in the entry to stash keys, umbrellas, leashes, and other items that are needed when coming and going.
This mirror was a purchase from our early married days. From JCPenney, good ole store! I still really like its aged look and pretty detailing. Sorry about the flash – it’s not easy to photo this room at night!
A ceramic urn holds a faux cabbage. The mosaic votives are from World Market. Have you been? If not, then go, and sign up for the mailing list -- they send coupons and special discounts every week!
The lamp was a thrift store find from long ago. Just the lamp, though -- I got lucky and found the doggie at a yard sale, and don’t you know she resembles our blonde Lizzie! The lampshade came with some crazy red pom pom fringe, but that came off, and this suits our décor a bit more. I need to do a tutorial one day on how easy it is to cover a lampshade with fabric and add some nice braid. Remind me, please!
These fantastic chippy-peely shutters flank the chest in the entry. They were a Canton find a few years back. I love the character they bring to this little room. The vintage frames were filled with calendar prints and Waverly check fabric mats that I made from scraps of fabric. Hanging from gingham ribbon, they add color, texture and cheer to the entry.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing a glimpse of our entryway today! Please visit Barb’s Tabletop Tuesday to see more great tabletops!
Andrea your entry table and all the items you have displayed are gorgeous! I just adore your plaid fabric lamp shade. The green urn is beautiful as well. Lovely job on this!
Your blog is amazing and so welcoming!
Many blessings to you. ~Melissa :)

Love it! I need to make a Canton run. It has been a while. Wouldn't it be neat to get a gang of bloggers to go together?
I love World Market too.

My eyes immediately went to the chippy shutters. The extra addition of the framed & matted flowers is perfect. I might have to copy you :)
