It was wonderful, wasn’t it? The holiday break, I mean. So many good times, family, and friends. And FOOD (more about that later).
It will be nice to get back to a schedule though, and get the house back in order. A few changes will be taking place here at Opulent Cottage, more sprucing up than replacing, but changes nonetheless. I spent yesterday packing up the Snow Village houses and re-working our buffet in the dining room, as well as our vintage armoire that we use as a china cabinet. I can’t show you the whole thing, as it isn’t finished yet, but let’s just say it involves sewing, painting and rearranging.
Can you see our Christmas tree in the background?! We’re going to enjoy it for one more day before it gets packed up and put away. Poor thing has been standing there drying out since the Sunday after Thanksgiving! We have really enjoyed it, and I’ll be a little sad to see it go.
Happy New Year, everyone! Are you sprucing up, painting, and rearranging, too?
Same thing happening here! I have to tell you that the first picture you showed of your buffet has so many of my favorite things...roosters, books, plates, flowers, lamp. Sigh...such a pretty little spot. :)

I love putting up the holiday decorations, but as my husband says, "you have issues with decorations after Christmas"! I can't wait to get it down, out and put away. I love the stark feeling of my house when it is gone. I've been doing the first of the year organizing, bill filing, throwing away stuff. We have a few plans to paint some rooms...but, not for a few weeks.

Oh, yes I surely am fixing and doing too! Did you make the beautiful lampshade? So pretty!

Hi!
Just found your blog via Susan & BNOTP. I saw that you were in Dallas so wanted to wave a Texas hello! :-) I'm in NRH and have just recently joined the blogging world. Yours is beautiful and I've enjoyed reading about your holidays. The weather has been less than desirable for me, however, the pic of your home on Christmas Eve is beautiful. It was truly amazing to have 3" of snow for our Texas Christmas, huh?
I look forward to getting to know you!
