Who out there is decorating for Christmas already? We have hauled our boxes out, I have spread the holiday cheer all around, and it’s all just…around. Everywhere! My family is tripping over boxes and tissue paper, the dog is taking detours around it all. I have to confess that I love the chaos, love spreading it all around, and love concepting how I’ll rearrange it all and make it different this year. I don’t really want to look at the same decorations, arranged the same way, in the same spot each year. I also don’t want to spend a lot of money making replacing them, nor do I want to part with any of my beloved collections! But I sure don’t mind using some creativity to
make it all seem fresh and innovative.
Here’s a display I came up with to accentuate our new chandelier. Actually it’s a very old chandelier, but painted a new color and in a new spot.
These red Christmas balls were in a bowl on my dining table last year. The other night I saw Kim Myles hang some from the ceiling on her show, Myles of Style. I think it adds a nice modern touch (which our daughter loved, as her style is much more contemporary). They are simply hung with clear thread from the fabric store. The reindeer collection is new, a few that I purchased and a few that had been given to me as gifts. I can’t wait to see how my collection grows this year!
Here’s the beginning of the mantel display-
I have a ways to go with this one! Not sure what might go in that plant stand, or if something else entirely might end up there. And that bow needs some help. But this is how it starts… if you’re not happy with your displays, keep trying! Some of our best ideas come from mistakes that we’ve made.
I’ll be digging through more boxes tonight, and scheming ideas for the next giveaway! Happy decorating!
