You may have noticed that I have a thing about plates. I wouldn’t call it a problem, or an addiction, maybe just a thing. I’m really not an art person, definitely not any modern art, just vintage prints and handmade art pieces. And plates. Everywhere! They are so easy to decorate with, inexpensive, fun and easy to find, too.
Here’s a simple arrangement I did on an empty wall in our bedroom. These were all orphaned and leftover plates, and when I bought these beautiful sconces from my friend at her sale, they all came together to create this pretty display. I think the un-matchy-ness is part of the beauty.
To start, I laid them all out on my bedspread and arranged and rearranged until the pattern seemed pleasing to me. I would like to say that I had a really intelligent way of hanging them without making a zillion holes, but I don’t.
I couldn’t believe my luck when I found these. Becky thinks they are 1940’s Italian.
This is called British Flowers, by Spode. I have never found more of them, but would love to.
A Royal Stafford transferware plate. No matter how I tried, I couldn’t avoid this crazy reflection, sorry.
Maybe some of you have a plate thing already, or maybe you’ll start today! Send me a photo if you do! Enjoy, Andrea
